DIY Website Essentials Presented by Nora Firestone at the Chamber's Education Series
The latest Chamber Education Series event, DIY Website Essentials, was so engaging that presenter Nora Firestone, Step-by-Step Presentations, had business leaders lined up to talk to her one-on-one.

The Southern Bank sponsored event focused on the successfully establishing, managing, and optimizing your own website. Firestone covered topics like how to choose the right domain name, the benefits of building a website vs. hiring someone else to do it, and SEO basics.  “It was useful information presently clearly and pleasantly,” said member Maura Zimmerman, Aflac.

The interactive presentation included tips and suggestions such as using short, pithy versions of a domain name for TV and radio ads in order to track the web traffic generated from those ads.  DIY Website Essentials “was an ideal workshop for non-tekkie business owners and managers interested in exploring website development and maximization,” said member Troy Thorn, CTA and Executive Director of the Chesapeake Conference Center.

At the core of the September 20th educational event was the Firestone’s encouragement for business leaders to take ownership of their websites. “Virtual space is like physical space,” she said, “what if you had to call a builder every time you needed to change a light bulb?”
