Hampton Roads Chamber "Anchors" are honored with the Anchors of our Community Award

The Hampton Roads Chamber had a surprise visit on September 5th by Norfolk Admirals mascot, Salty Dog. He was accompanied by Matt Trichon, Norfolk Admirals Ticket Sales Director, Christina Woods, Director of Community Development and Sabrena Hirst, Fan Engagement Executive to present the Anchors of our Community award to the Chamber’s own anchors, Sylvia Haines, Executive Vice President Operations and Ira Agricola, Executive Vice President Municipal Affairs. 

Now in their 30th year, the Norfolk Admirals honored Haines and Agricola with the award. The Anchors of our Community recognizes 30 members of Hampton Roads who have served the community for at least 30 years. This is a public service award intended to honor members of Hampton Roads for aiding the strength, stability, and unity of the community throughout their years of service.  Criteria of the award included: must have lived or worked in Hampton Roads for 30 plus years, must have worked in their respective field for 30 plus years and categories include, but are not limited to: healthcare, emergency services, fire, police, judiciary, disaster relief, education, government, nonprofit administration, environmental, assistance services and public works.  

Congratulations to Sylvia and Ira on their well deserved award!
