The Portsmouth Division leadership of the HR Chamber interviewed candidates for City Council in September in an unprecedented Facebook Live Forum. Following these interviews, the Executive Committee held a special meeting to review all available data and recommended a slate of candidates for endorsement.

 

 

 

The Endorsement Process

The Portsmouth Division leadership of the HR Chamber interviewed candidates for City Council in September in an unprecedented Facebook Live Forum.  Joe Fisher with WAVY News 10 interviewed Mark Gelduldig-Yastrofsky, Cathy Revell, incumbent Bill Moody, Shannon Glover, Paul Battle and incumbent, Dr. Mark Whitaker on behalf of the board.  Following these interviews, the Executive Committee held a special meeting to review all available data and recommended a slate of candidates for Portsmouth City Council.  The At-large nature of the council means that three candidates have been selected based on solely on their alignment with the goals and objectives of the HR Chamber and its lens on the success of the business community, both in Portsmouth and throughout the region. 

The Endorsed Candidates

Incumbent Bill Moody

  • Incumbent and 20 year veteran of Portsmouth City Council
  • Former chair of the Portsmouth Division of the HR Chamber
  • A former business man who understands the needs of businesses to maintain a strong work force and continue to grow

Shannon Glover

  • An experienced business person who understands the needs of businesses to maintain a strong workforce and continue to grow.
  • An active community servant including past chair of the Portsmouth Partnership
  • An advocate for workforce development, including becoming the leading force in Nex-Gen, a paid internship for “at risk” young people in the community in cooperation with OppInc.

Cathy Revell

  • An experienced business person who understands the needs of businesses to maintain a strong workforce and continue to grow.  
  • An active community servant, including serving as a chair to the Portsmouth Economic Development Authority
  • A long time servant of the community including other board memberships and serving on a state board
