Portsmouth Supports MWBE Inclusion Policy

On Tuesday, October 11, the Portsmouth Division Economic and Public Policy Committee attended the Portsmouth City Council meeting in support of a resolution adopting a Minority and Women Business Enterprise Inclusion policy for the City of Portsmouth. The City hired MGT of America to conduct a disparity study and the results revealed that statistically, significant barriers exist between the availability and utilization of small minority and women owned business. The MWBE policy would help provide minorities and women businesses equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of the City’s procurement and contracting opportunities. Tracy Link, Owner of Integrity Security Services, Inc (A VA Woman Owned DMBE SwaM Certified Micro Business) and Chair of the Portsmouth Economic and Public Policy Committee, represented the Committee and spoke on behalf of the Chamber in support of the inclusion policy. The adoption of the resolution passed. Click here for more information on the City Council meeting. (Pictured: Portsmouth Mayor Kenny Wright, Tracy Link, Vice Mayor Elizabeth Psimas)
