Five leaders of tHRive, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals group, were recently honored by CoVa Biz magazine as 2016 Millennials on the Move. Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce board member Julia Rust, attorney with Pierce/McCoy; and Lauren Bland, Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Sports Commission, a chamber affiliate, joined tHRive leaders Alisa Crider, Hampton Roads Transit; DeAndre Coke, Northwestern Mutual, & Donald Knight II, Virginia Natural Gas as honorees.
It’s no surprise our young professionals were honored for their efforts. Leaders of tHRive have been very active in the community and recently took part in a Young Leaders Roundtable aimed to build a more connected region through professional and personal relationships. tHRive members joined representatives from a variety of Southside and Peninsula organizations to discuss and advance issues important to millennials.
The Young Leaders Roundtable, which held its inaugural meeting on Sept. 21 is intended to be an organization built on regional collaboration. "The initiative to facilitate a Young Leaders Roundtable demonstrates just how driven our region's young professionals are to not only make an impact in our community, but to collaborate and support one another in those efforts, “said Julia Rust, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce board member and tHRive chair.
