Chamber's Sleepy Hole Golf Outing

Chamber's Sleepy Hole Golf Outing
On Halloween, more than 84 golfers experienced Suffolks Sleepy Hole Golf Course to reconnect with colleagues and friends for the Chambers annual golf outing.

Sleepy Hole’s immaculate, and ghoulish greens were a fabulous backdrop to the Chamber’s drive to provide fun and connections for its members, despite a mid-afternoon cold snap that underscored the Halloween theme.

“The award winning course showed its teeth in the late afternoon with the wind coming off of the water making the pristine greens a challenge,” noted Dean McClain, the Suffolk and Chesapeake Division Director at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.

Chris White of OFFIX was a golfer on the winning team.

“I decided to join the chamber after relocating to Hampton Roads last year due to my company, OFFIX, expanding from Northern VA and Richmond in order to service existing clients in the area," said White. "I was very active in (3) different chambers in Prince William and Fauquier Counties before relocating. When I saw the sign-up for the HRCC Golf Outing at Sleepy Hole, I knew it would be a good way to be active in this Chamber, spend a day business networking, and have fun playing golf! I do not have any golfers in my office so my team consisted of clients and a friend. Michael Zimmerman and Wes Smith are Loan Officers at Southern Trust Mortgage and Henry Giese III is the President at Geese Logistics. It really was a lot of fun to win because I’m used to coming in closer to last in golf tournaments! The format of the tournament was great, the weather was perfect, and the networking couldn’t have been better! We will definitely be back next year to try and reclaim our trophy (gift cards to the pro shop)!”

Thank you to the following sponsors: Elizabeth River Tunnels (Presenting); Bon Secours Virginia Health System (Gold); Bayside Harley-Davidson and Southern Auto Group (Hole-in-One), and USA Living (Longest Drive).
