Awards Luncheon to be Held May 19

SBOY LogoThe 27th annual Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year (SBOY) Awards luncheon will be held Thursday, May 19 during National Small Business Week which recognizes the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of America.  One exceptional small business owner, out of five finalists, one from each Southside city, will be selected for his or her tireless work and embodiment of the spirit of enterprise.  National Small Business Week will honor the estimated 27.2 million small businesses throughout the country.  More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business.  They also create 60-80% of new jobs in the country.

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads convened a panel of judges to select the five businesses to honor.  The winning businesses are chosen based on financial performance and business history, staff training and motivation, community involvement, business plan, growth, and customer service and satisfaction.
