IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retailer will host an exclusive pop-up experience to give customers a preview of what to expect when the store opens on Wednesday, April 10. Visitors will get the opportunity to explore the latest products through an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience that will take them through a virtual version of an IKEA showroom. In addition to learning more about IKEA innovative design and practical solutions, they will also get a chance to receive free giveaways – while supplies last.
The 331,000-square-foot future IKEA Norfolk store will reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide. The site sits on 19 acres on the northwestern corner of Interstate 64 and Northampton Boulevard. IKEA Norfolk will feature nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 42 inspirational room settings, four model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area and a 354-seat restaurant serving traditional Swedish and American fare including IKEA meatballs.
The virtual reality pop up will take place on Saturday, March 30 from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 31 from 1:00 - 6:00 on the MacArthur Center Green at the corner of Monticello Avenue and Freemason Street.
