Waterside District today announced that the official Grand Opening celebration will take place May 11 - 14, 2017. The celebration will be a four-day long event open to the public and filled with live musical acts, events and activities for the entire community.
Grand Opening festivities will kick off Thursday, May 11, and last throughout the weekend. The Grand Opening celebration will include performances by national recording artists Weezer and New Politics on May 11, and national country music artist Chase Rice on May 13. All concerts are free to the public and will be held at Waterside District. Other Grand Opening celebration events will include yacht rock band Schooner or Later, Blue Moon TapHouse Sunday Brunch for Mother’s Day, and Sunday Fun Day at Harbor Club, family-friendly events like face painting, magicians, bounce house, Tides fast pitch, a mascot party and more. Visitors to Waterside District will be able to enjoy the many dining options, music and activities when it opens to the public beginning Thursday, May 4. Some of the activities set for May 4 - 7 include a concert by country singer Michael Ray on May 4, Streetmosphere performances on May 6 and 7, drink specials and more. Additionally, there will be a host of exclusive events in late April including tastings, receptions and private parties. Proceeds from select private events in April will go to local charities including the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, CHIP of South Hampton Roads, Physicians for Peace and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.
Waterside District is located along the waterfront of downtown Norfolk and will be a place where the community can come together with family and friends for entertainment, a full range of culinary options, nightlife and activities for all ages, including live music, festivals and other community events. Waterside District will be anchored by The Market, an eclectic and vibrant food hall featuring local and regional favorites such as Starr Hill, Rappahannock Oyster Co., Cogan’s Pizza and more. Waterside District will also feature premier national restaurants such as Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse, Blue Moon TapHouse, PBR Norfolk and The Fudgery.
