Virginia Beach Ranks #2 in Nation for Business to Friendly City

Virginia Beach Ranks #2 in Nation for Business to Friendly City, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that Virginia Beach was rated the second-best city in the U.S. by small businesses.

Some of the key findings for Virginia Beach include:

-       Virginia Beach ranked #2 for overall small business friendliness and #1 for the ease of starting a business. It also received high marks for its business-friendly regulations, including an 'A' for its health and safety regulations and an 'A-' for its licensing requirements.

-       Small businesses again rated Virginia highly, giving the Commonwealth an 'A' overall and ranking it #4 for the quality of its online small business resources.

Chamber member Kevin Kordek, owner of A-Active Termite & Pest Control Company, of Virginia Beach was interviewed by CNN Money.  A-Active won the Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year Award in 2012. Regarding the city's number 2 ranking, Kordek said, “The military and resorts provide a constant influx of consumers buying goods and services.”
