On June 19, the Chamber hosted a special luncheon in partnership with the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance (HREDA) that featured HREDA’s European consultants Charles Macdowell (United Kingdom) and Jan Rafalowski (Poland). Chamber members heard the speakers discuss and report on aspects specific to the way business is conducted in their home countries.
Macdowell and Rafalowski provided insight into their country’s economic framework, along with detailed information about the challenges and opportunities that are present for U.S. businesses, with an interest in the various European markets. Macdowell’s presentation focused on how technological advancements have developed the United Kingdom’s economy, while Rafalowski’s presentation focused on the different processes and practices that have led to Poland’s economic success.
Both speakers participated in a question and answer session with the audience following their presentations.
