Virginia SBDC Honors Debra Hamilton Farley with State Star

Debra (front row center) is surrounded by co-workers with the SBDC of Hampton RoadsFrom June 4-6, the Virginia Small Business Development Center Network held its Professional Development Meeting in Norfolk, VA. The meeting included an awards reception where the SBDC honored Debra Hamilton Farley with the 2013 State Star Award, which is conferred by the National Association of SBDCs to recognize exemplary performers who make significant contributions to their SBDC network and who demonstrate a strong commitment to small businesses.

 

(from left) Jody Keenan, Debra Hamilton-Farley, and Jim Carroll Ms. Farley started with the SBDC as a Program Coordinator at its founding and has progressed through the ranks to now serve as the Associate Executive Director for one of the larger SBDC offices in the network. She has worked for the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads for 23 years. "We are so pleased that Debra Hamilton Farley is our State Star," said Jody Keenan, the State Director for the Virginia SBDC Network.  "Her clients sing her praises, her partners rely on her efforts for their success, and her peers and colleagues selected her as the most worthy recipient of this national award.  She truly reflects the State Star criteria. ”
