Chamber Hosts 17th Annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon

(from left) Captain Charles Stuppard, USN, Commanding Officer, JEB; and Joseph Licari, Vice President, USA Discounters The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce hosted its 17th Annual Virginia Beach Armed Forces Awards Luncheon on July 20 at the Brashear Conference Center on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story (JEB) in Virginia Beach.  This awards luncheon extended recognition from the business community to 130 outstanding military personnel stationed at commands in Virginia Beach, including Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEB), Naval Air Station Oceana (NAS Oceana), and Dam Neck Annex.  This annual event is held to honor the hardworking men and women of the military.  During the program, Captain Charles Stuppard, USN, Commanding Officer, JEB; the Chamber's Virginia Beach Division Chair Linwood Branch; and Virginia Beach City Councilman Bill DeSteph provided remarks.

Virginia Beach City Councilman Bill DeSteph Councilman DeSteph, a former Navy Intelligence Officer, was honored to be a part of the luncheon and thanked the honorees for their service.  He said, “Thanks to you, America will remain free and strong.”

The Chamber hosts this awards luncheon annually because military personnel are such an important part of our region. This is one of many events hosted by the Chamber to show local support for men and women of the armed forces stationed in the area. 

130 military personnel were honored at the awards luncheonIn addition to being recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, service members were also entered into a drawing for several prizes, including a 32 inch TV donated by USA Discounters.  HM3, Brian Laverentz, was the lucky winner of the new TV.
