Board Bootcamp Will Bring Young Professionals and Volunteers Together at IMPACT TALK

Board Bootcamp Will Bring Young Professionals and Volunteers Together at IMPACT TALK
Attendees will receive Board Bootcamp training covering the fundamentals of why serving as a volunteer on a board is critical to career success

The Hampton Roads Chamber is committed to developing the next generation of leaders. Many of our young professionals are eager to get involved and just need the door opened. In fact, more than 90% of respondents indicated they have participated in volunteerism or community service in a 2016 poll.  According to the survey results, one of the biggest roadblocks keeping Millennials in the region from getting more involved in these leadership roles is the lack of opportunity.

Thus, we are partnering VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads with our young professionals group,  tHRive, for a Board Boot Camp during this quarter's IMPACT talk.  tHRive, the young professional program of the Hampton Roads Chamber, holds quarterly IMPACT Talks that feature prominent Hampton Roads leaders discussing issues that affect young professionals. This quarter's IMPACT Talk attendees will receive Board Bootcamp training that will cover the fundamentals of why serving as a volunteer on a board is critical to career success and developmental growth as well as the growth of our region. Participants will also learn the protocols and procedures of getting involved, how to properly serve on a board, and will also work with VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads to get connected with a local board for volunteer service.

The Board Bootcamp will take place on Wednesday, February 15th from 5:30-7:30 PM.
