“I made the decision, I have nothing to lose, and everything to gain,” said Lee Milteer, internationally known and celebrated entrepreneur and professional speaker. Milteer led the Hampton Roads Chamber’s Professional Women’s Leadership Luncheon Series on February 6, 2018 with her presentation on “How to Manage Your Life Energy for More Success.” Milteer warmed up the audience as she openly shared details of her childhood in rural Virginia and her dreams at an early age, to be successful and to make a better life for herself, one beyond the narrow confines of her small community. She has done just that. “I’m a lifelong learner. You have to ready yourself to step up to the plate in grace and courage and I do that by not allowing the negativity around us to influence me,” Milteer said.
Milteer is a visionary, best-selling author, TV personality and intuitive business mentor providing business success advice and resources to nearly 250,000 people around the world. She believes one’s life currency can be broken down into physical, mental, spiritual and financial currency. As she led the audience through the program she exuded vibrancy and enthusiasm, key physical energy factors she says is key to success in life. “Ask yourself daily, what are you doing physically that allows you to keep yourself well?”
The audience resonated with her advice to learn “to love yourself enough to say no more.” Milteerr clearly practices her program of envisioning success and using her physical energy as a key to success in life. She asked the audience to examine, “what are we feeding into our bodies?” Mental energy is crucial and she encouraged everyone to examine where they focus their time and energy. “The mind follows the body, the body follows the mind,” she said. “Be very clear about who you let influence you.”
Milteer shared her experiences of traveling through the world, her own passions of art and photography, and was open about hardships and challenges. She encouraged the audience to “love themselves and be the person who shares love with others. Words are the most powerful things we have in life.” This best-selling author attributed her love of reading broadly to her spiritual energy and success. As a self-made successful business woman she explained that financial energy is not just about money. “It’s how you take care of yourself. I knew early on, the only person who takes care of me, is me. I put money in savings from each paycheck. It is our financial energy that determines your ability to be successful.”
Milteer graciously took time to sign books and answer questions from the audience. Hampton Roads Chamber President and CEO, Bryan K. Stephens asked her what advice she would give to young women, just starting in their careers. “If everyone else goes right, you go left,” Milteer said. “Don’t follow the herds. Know your talents and leverage them and do it well. Stand out of the crowd by being yourself.” She also championed the audience to learn the art of negotiation. “No, is the beginning of yes,” she said.
The Hampton Roads Chamber Professional Women’s Leadership Luncheon series will continue in May with Frances Cole Jones, author of “How to Wow: Proven Strategies For Selling Yourself in Any Situation.”
