The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce was awarded with 4-Star Accreditation today by the United States Chamber of Commerce for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

U.S Chamber of Commerce Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their achievement of effective organizational standards and community impact.  In order to receive accreditation, a chamber must meet the highest standards in their operations, programs and financial management, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology.  Of the 7,022 local and regional chambers in the United States, only 213 are accredited which puts the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce among the elite chambers in the top 3% in the nation.

“We applaud the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce for superbly advancing the principles of free enterprise.” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, Vice President, Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is the region’s premier business organization, helping businesses succeed, driving regional economic growth and enhancing the quality of life of our community’s residents.

“We are proud and honored to achieve U.S Chamber Accreditation status.  It is a tremendous accomplishment for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce team and clearly illuminates the professionalism, competence, dedication, commitment and pride of the Chamber staff and volunteers”, said Bryan K. Stephens, President and CEO Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.  “We undertook this difficult accreditation process because we believe our members and the entire business community of Hampton Roads deserve the best operational excellence from their Chamber.”
