How To Better Generate Leads and Gain Influence

"Get specific and be consistent."

That was the underscoring message Courtney LaLonde, Strategic Event Manager for Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group provided participants in the most recent Chamber Education Series event, "Lead Generation Success," on Tuesday, August 15th.

During her presentation, LaLonde shared tips and tricks for building leads, organizing those leads, and keeping content fresh and relevant. Chamber members learned about various social media tools, apps, and network building opportunities they could use to find leads and drive their business. LaLonde reviewed the business card reader app "ABBYY," video development tools Magisto, BombBomb, and how to use these tools with customer relationship management tools like Constant Contact.

You don't always get the audience you want unless you promote it," said LaLonde. Participants took her advice to heart. "I think I'm going to start using more social media and videos," said Bruce Nowakowski, President of Nowakowski Accounting and Business Services, LLC. Caroline Myatt of Junior Achievement of Greater  Hampton Roads felt the same.   "I'm really glad I came," said, "I learned a lot of great ways to use apps and social media to generate new leads and get my business's name out there."

During the session, which was also live-streamed by ViewItDoIt, LaLonde answered specific questions from the audience. Several people wanted to know how best to start using all the tools recommended by LaLonde.  "Pick one or two [apps] to focus on for a few months," she said, "start small and learn them backward and forwards."

In addition to the apps and social media tools LaLonde mentioned, she also stressed the importance of meeting people out in the real world and taking part in the network building opportunities available in the area. Specifically, LaLonde noted how attending Chamber events has helped her grow her reach. "The Chamber has increased my brand recognition 10-fold," she said. LaLonde reminded participants to keep their business top of mind and not be afraid to remind their friends and acquaintances about what they do.  "You shouldn't feel embarrassed by what you do," she said, “Most sales people don't ask for a referral."
